It doesn’t matter how old you are, how creaky your body feels or you have never danced before. I had gone through both a knee and a hip replacement and thought that it would be a struggle. But I needn’t have worried as not only is this is great exercise, Susan and Elizabeth make it such fun. I guarantee you will feel the health benefits but more importantly you will really enjoy it!


Each Ballet Based Movement session is so uplifting and enjoyable, a wonderful activity to look forward to. As a bonus, my shape has changed for the better, my bingo wings have tightened and my overall strength has increased, a brilliant thing to be part of.


I LOVE the classes. Susan is a wonderful teacher. Her warmth and enthusiasm reach through the computer screen! I have benefited mentally and physically from classes and love the fact that the recordings give me chance to practise in between classes. I feel stronger, more supple and my balance has improved (something I never thought could happen at 63!) I have loved getting ballet back into my body and my soul. I have noticed not only my core strength returning, but also my deportment has improved dramatically.  No more slouching and definitely have found myself standing beautifully erect with tummy tucked in, first position, in the queue in Sainsburys!

This class is a real winner – Susan and Elizabeth  are the most engaging and highly personable tutors, as is the other favourite daughter Marina, who is very capably in charge of technical support.   So, if like me, you need to get moving but want to have a good laugh and fun along the way, you need to check out Ballet Based Movement, I really cannot recommend them highly enough.


I have so enjoyed the Ballet Based Movement ballet classes.  Susan is a brilliant teacher and the music she chooses is just wonderful. Having danced a lot in my life, BBM has brought me nothing but joy, especially in the lockdowns.  I am more flexible, have better core muscles, and know that ballet is improving my osteoporosis. To be able to access the recorded classes is an extra bonus so I can dance whenever I feel like it!

Susan and Elizabeth’s Ballet Based Movement videos never fail to uplift my spirit and fill me with joy. I consider this class one of God’s sweetest gifts during the pandemic, when so many other activities were canceled. As a woman who has been visually impaired since birth, I went into my first class wondering if I would be able to see everything and keep up. Would I spend the entire hour feeling awkward? At least no one would see me if that happened. Instead I felt like I was being led by a patient encouraging friend. Ballet has helped me grow in confidence and become physically stronger than I’ve been in ages. I’m a writer, so I do a lot of sitting and often have pain in my neck and shoulders (a hazard of low vision), but ballet is improving both.
